Comments: Lewis does not appear on any Census Records for Middle Tennessee that have been found. He enlisted in the
Williamson Grays on May 9, 1861 and was discharged at Haynesville, TN on July 18, 1861. There is a Lewis Trier that joined
Green’s Kentucky Battery and was captured at Fort Donelson on February 16, 1862. Lewis may have gone to Fort Donelson or
Camp Boone to find another unit. Alexander Beard and Thomas Woldridge, both later Williamson Grays, had originally joined the
2nd Kentucky Mounted Infantry at Camp Boone and Henry Howe Cook tried to join a unit at Fort Donelson but the fort fell and he left
with the Cavalry. Lewis possibly did that as well after his discharge from the 1st Tennessee. The Lewis from the Kentucky Battery
died from Tuberculosis on September 4, 1862 at Camp Douglas. If these are the same people, it could explain why there is no trace
of him after the war. Lewis is left off of all post war rosters so little else is known about him.
