Comments: The 1850 Census shows Robert living in Davidson County and by the 1860 Census he is living in Williamson County by
himself. Robert enlisted at the company’s formation but did not join the company on its journey to Virginia in July 1861, and is listed
as being sick in Franklin, TN until at least October 1861. He is listed as being sick again in December 1862 and in January 1863 he
deserted from the Hospital. He returned sometime after May 1863. Robert left the company on Hood's Retreat and joined 10 & 11th
Tennessee Consolidated Cavalry Company I on Hood's Retreat. There is a reference in his war record stating he deserted in
January 1865 and was being held in Nashville where he took the oath of allegiance. However, this record also states he Volunteered
for the Confederate Service September 22, 1862 which does not match his service history so this maybe for a different person.
Another record shows he did surrender in Citronelle, AL on May 4, 1865 and was paroled at Gainesville, AL on May 10, 1865.
Nothing is known of what happened to him following the war but most post war rosters from the 1900’s state he has died since the
war. His burial location is unknown as well.
