and his mother, Talitha, remarried to William Coleman. Thomas and his siblings moved to the Coleman house in District 5, the area
west and southwest of Franklin. By the 1860 Census, Thomas is living with the Hill family in District 1, extreme western part of the
county, working as a farm laborer. Thomas would end up marrying the daughter of his employer after the war. Thomas enlisted in
the company at its formation and served until the end of the war. We he later applied to join the United Confederate Veterans he
stated he was wounded at the battles of Perryville and Murfreesboro. At neither was he actually recorded as wounded by Captain
Atkeison or on his service record so whatever wounds he received were slight. After the battle of Nashville he joined the 10th
Tennessee Cavalry Company D. He surrendered with them at the end of the war in Gainesville, AL in May 1865.
After the war he married Talitha C. Hill on October 23, 1867. The couple lived near Talitha’s family on modern day Temple Road in
1870. In 1880, they were living in District 14 Davidson County (just over the border from the Hill family) and had six children. He
was a member of the McEwen bivouac of the United Confederate Veterans. Thomas died in 1898 and was buried in John B. Hill
Cemetery in Williamson County on his In-Law’s farm.
