Comments: Daniel grew up in District 14 of Williamson County, which is between modern day I-65 and Arrington, TN. The 1860
Census lists his family living in the Eastern Subdivision of Franklin, though their post office is listed as Arrington. Their location may
have been listed incorrectly. Daniel originally enlisted in Company C 55th Tennessee Infantry on December 21, 1861. He must
have been discharged early. He does not appear on the unit’s roster when they consolidated with the 44th Tennessee in April 1862.
He was recruited by Lieutenant Loving Woldridge to reenlist on November 4, 1862. He became sick shortly afterwards. A medical
examination board found him unfit for duty and he was discharged February 3, 1863 at Atlanta for several hemorrhages of the lungs.
His discharge papers describe him as Height: 5'10", Complexion: Fair, Eyes: Hazel, Hair: Light. After his time in the army he married
a girl with the last name Collins. She had passed away by the 1870 Census and he was living with his father in law in District 10 as a
grocery store keeper. In the 1880 Census, he had moved with the Collins family to Davidson County and still worked as a Merchant.
He remarried on December 20, 1894 to Sallie Craig and the couple had one child. Daniel moved back to District 14 and became a
farmer. Daniel is buried in Section A of Mount Hope Cemetery in Franklin, TN.
