DOB:  About 1833 DOD:  ? Age at Enlistment: 28 Date of Enlistment:  May 9, 1861 Place of Enlistment:  Franklin, TN Rank at Enlistment:  Private Rank at Discharge:  2nd Corporal Casualty:  Wounded slightly at Missionary Ridge on November 25, 1863 and received a severe gunshot wound to the lower left leg on the Kennesaw line on June 23, 1864. Comments:  Jacob was born in Tennessee about 1832 or 1833 according to Census records.  The 1860 Census shows his occupation as Mail Carrier.  He was the Uncle of Elijah Baugh who was also in the Williamson Grays. Jacob was promoted to 3rd Corporal in 1862 following the death of William Campbell.  He received a second promotion on January 1, 1864 to 2nd Corporal.  He was wounded slightly during the Battle of Missionary Ridge on November 25, 1863.  On June 23, 1864, at the Kennesaw Line (a few days before the main assault), the 1st Tennessee picket line was overrun and the regiment counterattacked to retake it.  During this engagement Jacob received a gunshot wound to the lower left leg.  According to his Surgeon’s records some of the bone had to be taken out of his leg.  He was eventually transferred to Hood Hospital in Cuthbert, GA and appears to have finished out the war still recuperating.  Jacob does not appear in any census records after the Civil War and no other documentation has been found regarding his death.
