William T. “Buck” Bailey
DOB:  About 1840 DOD:  February 27, 1864 Age at Enlistment: 21 Date of Enlistment:  May 9, 1861 Place of Enlistment:  Franklin, TN Rank at Enlistment:  4th Corporal Rank at Discharge:  Private Casualty:  Mortally wounded in the head at Missionary Ridge on November 25, 1863 and died of wounds at hospital at Covington. Comments:  The 1850 and 1860 Census shows him living with Patrick and Sallie Reese.  The Reese’s were old enough to be William’s grandparents but I have not been able to prove their relation.  William had a younger brother named Patrick that lived with the family too.  “Buck” as he was nicknamed enlisted with the Williamson Grays at their formation and was elected 4th Corporal.  When the company reorganized in 1862 was demoted down to Private.  Buck shows as present on every roster until November 1863 when he was mortally wounded during the fighting on Missionary Ridge on November 25.  He was taken to a hospital at Covington, GA where he eventually succumbed to his wounds on February 27,1864.  William is buried in the Covington Confederate Cemetery.
