Comments: Thomas was the son of Thomas S. and Mary Ann Anthony. He was living in Nashville by himself according to the 1860
Census and working at M.A. Parrish & Co Produce company in Nashville as a bookkeeper. William F. Hanner of the Williamson
Grays was working at the same place as a bookkeeper in 1860, both Thomas and William died during the war. While in Virginia in
September and October of 1861 he was detached as a nurse. Was later detailed a hospital clerk again in April 1862. He is listed as
sick in the hospital at Jackson, MS in May and June of 1862. On July 31, 1862 he wrote out his last will and testament, stating in the
will, “Fully aware of the uncertainty of life under the most favorable circumstances and especially it is doubtful when one is engaged
in the army as I now am.” He was killed just a few months later on October 8, 1862 at the Battle of Perryville. He is believed to be
buried in the mass grave at the Perryville Battlefield.
